My name is Melissa. I started working at Farmington Veterinary Clinic in February, 2008. I have worked with animals since 2002, working in Emergency Medicine and owning/operating a small boarding kennel. To this day, I still do a lot of pet sitting for those special friends I made while owning the kennel. In 2003, I received my Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Clinical Assisting from Minnesota School of Health Sciences (Globe University). In 2011, I received another Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology from Globe University. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science Degree in Advanced Veterinary Technology/Veterinary Management, and am anticipating completion in Dec. 2012. I enjoy all aspects of my job, but I have a special interest in Patient Care, Dentistry, Surgery and blood draws. As a Vet Tech, no 2 days are alike, which makes it fun! All of us at FVC wear many hats. I think being a Vet Tech is one of the most under estimated jobs around, but I truly believe it is one of the best. I think it is important to take time with the animals that come into the clinic, as many are nervous and just need special treatment. Cats and dogs are like babies, they can’t communicate with us, so they need our patience and love. I grew up as the youngest child in a large family in Farmington, so it is fun to see many familiar faces in the clinic as well as seeing how the community has grown and meeting many new faces. I am married and we have one very busy daughter named Payton. We have 2 Labrador Retrievers named Drake and Mallee, along with 3 cats named Milly, Lilly and Marc Andre’. Outside of work, I enjoy photography, traveling, cooking, hunting with the dogs, and cheering for my daughter at her hockey games. |
